Jewelry Cleaning & Care

AJL provides cleaning service to all of their clients, your jewelry will be cleaned and revived with great care.  The service costs $25. which includes full cleaning, and secure delivery return service.  Please allow up to 2 weeks for us to complete and return your jewelry.

Tips for caring your jewelry at home.

AVOID direct contact with beauty products such as perfume, hairspray, deodorant and makeup.

ALWAYS remove your jewelry before swimming, bathing or showering.

TO CLEAN your jewelry, wipe with a soft, moist cloth and ensure the piece is dried well. Avoid harsh detergents and never use jewelry cleaner on fashion pieces.

It is vital to store your jewelry correctly.  Keep your jewelry in separate boxes to prevent any damage and fix all chains and catches before storing flat. Wrap single portions in tissue or towels free of acid. Your purchase is enveloped in anti-tarnish tissue paper.

When performing any physical activity, including home chores, remove bracelets and rings; don't use harsh detergents on your jewels.  Special care is needed for the gemstones. Avoid harsh surface impact. Hold gems and pearls as little as possible; the oils on your skin can dull the stones.  Try not to get resin and bead jewelry wet.
Cleaning regularly helps to maintain brightness. Cleaning items like gold or silver with polishing cloths, we added one for you as a special thank you for your purchase.  Oxidation: is a chemical process that colours the appearance of silver. With wear, oxidation will often diminish or fully rub off in highly touched areas. Time scale can not be guarantee or determined.
  • Do not use tarnish-removing dips or silver polishes. These will damage the patina of your jewelry.
  • Do not use lemon-scented brands of liquid soap.
  • Do not use a polishing cloth on any plated jewelry designs.
How to Care for Your Bronze Jewelry Designs
All AJL Jewelry designs in bronze are coated with a transparent coating to protect the jewelry from chemical reactions and abrasions, as well as to assist protect the skin from response. Bronze jewelry with this coating will retain its original color and polish for a longer period of time than untreated Bronze if properly cared for. Harsh chemicals, cosmetics, and solvents can harm or remove this coating, and it can also wear off over time if jewelry comes into contact with hard surfaces. Please follow all of the above jewelry maintenance instructions to extend the life of your Bronze AJL jewelry.  Bronze jewelry designs may require periodic protective re-coating, this is available through AJL Jewelry for a nominal fee.

How to Care for Your Plated Jewelry 

Apply cosmetics, hair products, lotions, perfumes and powders prior to donning your jewelry.

Prevent your items from being exposed to moisture.

Remove your pieces before showering, swimming, sunbathing and exercising.

Prevent damage and breakage by removing your jewelry at bedtime.

Keep all wearable pieces of art out of direct sunlight.

Metals may tarnish over time due to oxygen and natural body oils.

To reduce tarnishing, store jewelry in a sealed bag or box in a dry, dark and cool place.

Gold-Plated Jewelry Designs

AJL offers designs in 14 and 24 kt gold-plating. To extend the life of your plated jewelry, do not use a polishing cloth on these designs. Plating can be damaged or removed by harsh chemicals, cosmetics and solvents, and can also wear off if jewelry comes in contact with hard surfaces over time. Gold-plated designs may require periodic re-plating, available through AJL Jewelry for a nominal fee.
