Creating Handmade Jewelry: Soldering and Fusing on PMC Course Review
As Kim Blair said, “the pursuit of art on a regular basis may be the key to healing our minds and bodies.” This quote perfectly summarizes my reasons for being a hands-on creative. Creating an excellent piece of art is never easy, but it certainly is mind-blowing and satisfying. This is why I am always looking for new ways to keep on learning, growing, and enhancing my design skills. My most recent learning pursuit was a soldering and fusing online class run by Stephanie Chavez. Stephanie is an accomplished metal clay artist, teacher, and mentor with a unique passion for combining PMC metal clay with metalsmithing techniques.
The course covered the basic techniques of soldering silver, brass, copper, and precious metal clay as well as the art of fusing fine silver, Argentium, and metal clay. I had the chance to complete four projects that involved making fine silver post earrings, fine silver and Argentium fused earrings, a 950 OneFire sterling silver with brass pendant and a stone, and a 950 OneFire sterling silver ring with a stone. I enjoyed the class for the sole reason that it allowed me to expand my design possibilities and creative opportunities significantly. No matter your skill level or motivation, Stephanie’s class can offer you a solid basis for crafting handmade jewellery and even establishing your very own jewelry-making business.
Keep burning bright!
